Frank Morich Scores 1st Win

(Tioga Center, NY) - Racing action on the fast ½-mile concrete oval that is Shangri-la II Motor Speedway was contested on a beautiful "Concrete Kicks Asphalt" Saturday night. When it was over a pair of drivers celebrated repeat wins while another pair celebrated career-first wins in their divisions. Jimmy Zacharias (Candor, NY) got win #7 in the Sportsman Modified division and it was #2 this year for ASA Late Model driver Scott Nurmi (Lakeview, NY). Maine, NY's Chris Zacharias, who had won previously in the Late Models, scored his first in the Street Stocks. And it was a career-first Shangri-la II win for 4 Cylinder ace Frank Morich from Horseheads, NY. With the season winding down the championship chases are very much on the minds of many. The battles continue this Saturday on Family Fun Night.

Lamoreaux August 4 Late Model Win

Lamoreaux, Zacharias, Sharpsteen, Ameigh Find Victory Lane

August 4, 2012 - 2009 Late Model champion, Jim Lamoreaux led flag-to-flag in claiming his second Late Model victory of the season holding off the constant pressure from second place finisher, Jerry Dineen. Jimmy Zacharias made his move around Tony Hanbury on the fifth lap of the twenty five lap Sportsman feature and cruised on to his sixth Sportsman win. Lee Sharpsteen started deep in the Street Stock field. The two time and defending champion drove with determination following a disqualification the preceding week, bypassed both Chris Zacharias and Gil Sharpsteen in turn three on lap sixteen and held on to win for the seventh time in ten events. Jeff Ameigh collected his fourth win in the Pudgies Pizza Four Cylinder Stocks, holding off Frank Morich.

Hirschman Wins RoC at Shangri-LaII

July 29, 2012 - Matt Hirschman extended his hot streak in the Race of Champions Pavement Modified Series Sunday afternoon by winning the 75 lap event at Shangri-La II Motorspeedway in Tioga Center, NY. The second generation driver from Northampton, Pa collected his third consecutive RoC win in 2012, and his second win at the speedway. His previous win at "The Concrete Castle" came on July 9, 2011 in a 100 lap RoC event. Candor, NY's Jimmy Zacharias had a good day, winning the Sportsman race for the fifth time this year, and collected his third consecutive third place finish in RoC Modified competition. Jeff Goodwin won for the third time this season in the Street Stocks, one of only two drivers in the division to make it to victory lane in 2012. Brandon Ameigh outlasted brother, Jeff for the Pudgies Pizza 4 Cylinder feature.
