June 23 Schedule Change Announced

Shangri-La II Motorspeedway announces the cancellation of our program of pavement racing at the half mile concrete oval on Saturday, June 23, 2012. "We have had a lot of calls regarding this program" states track manager, Amy Stilson. "It is high school graduation weekend, and we have a lot of graduations of track workers, workers children and grandchildren, and of our competitors. Skyview Drags is receiving the same calls we are, so they too have cancelled their program. There will not be any racing on "Rumble Ridge" the weekend of June 23rd."

This cancellation means the Sportsman, Street Stock and Pudgie's Pizza 4 Cylinder Stock races are not planned to be re-scheduled. The Modifieds however, ARE being rescheduled for Saturday, July 14th on Racin' Rumble Ridge Night. The Modifieds will join the Late Models, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Pudgie's Pizza 4 Cylinder Stocks in a big, five division show.

Night of Nitro!
This program will run in conjunction with one of the biggest shows to ever be put together at Skyview Drags as for the first time ever in their six year history, Skyview Drags will have the Top Fuel Dragsters as their featured attraction for their second annual Chad Wilcox Memorial night. Headlining the event will be Top Fuel star, Hillary Will, a winner on the NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel Tour and is currently in the top ten in NHRA Full Throttle points.

Grandstand admission price for this special event is $20.00 for adults (the admission price is the same at both tracks and is valid for both tracks). Youth 16 and under are free. The Shangri-La II wristband discount will not be valid for this event. Keep up to date on this event and all of the action at Shangri-La II all season long by logging on to the website. For information on the Chad Wilcox Memorial, log on to the Skyview Drags website: www.skyviewdrags.com.

Make sure to make your way up to Rumble Ridge for the biggest night of combined competition to date at both Shangri-La II Motorspeedway and Skyview Drags.

Mother Nature Only Winner as June 9 Event Cancels

June 9 - Mother Nature was the only winner on Saturday night at the speedway. Persistent and spotty showers, thunderstorms and outright torrential downpours in the surrounding communities coupled with a forecast for more of the same forced the hand of track management to cancel the event at the ASA Member track. "We have a fair amount of competitors towing long distances to reach our facility" states track manager, Amy Stilson. "We know the economy is tough and with the conditions like we had on Saturday and the forecast for the remainder of the evening, we can help save the teams and fans the expense on fuel by making the difficult decision to cancel early this time. This program is lost to the elements, and will not be made up". This rainout comes after four weeks of competition are in the books for the Sportsman, Street Stocks and Pudgie's Pizza Four Cylinder Stocks.

Tioga Center, NY - The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour opens their 2012 season this Sunday, May 20 at Shangri-La II Motorspeedway – the high banked concrete half mile oval in Tioga Center, NY. Other divisions also seeing action this Sunday will be the Sportsman, Street Stocks, Pudgie's GoodTime Pizza, Pasta and Subs 4 Cylinders and Pudgie's GoodTime Pizza, Pasta and Subs 4 Cylinder Juniors.

Matt Hirschman is the defending winner of this first RoC race of the season at " The Concrete Castle", but there already drivers lining up to de-throne the champion. Erick Rudolph piloted Wilber Hebing's McGuire Motorsports back-up ride to a win last week in the track's season opener. Hebing had a dominant ride himself, but a spin on lap 8 of the 35 lap feature event took Hebing to the rear of the field. Hebing put on a driving exhibition to recover to a fifth place finish. Andy Walko was matching Rudolph's lap times in the waning laps of the feature, and had to settle for a second place finish. 2010 track Modified Champion, Jimmy Zacharias had a strong run, finishing third. Daren Scherer, Dean Rypkema, Brian DeFebo, John Markovic, Nick Barzee, T-J Zacharias, Jim Storace, J.R. Kent and rookie Bryan Sherwood all have a completed feature at the speedway under their belt.
