Officials of Shangri-La II Motor Speedway and the Race of Champions Modified Tour have announced the "Return of the ROC'n Concrete Rumble" originally set for Sunday, August 1 has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 22. The first heat will start at 4:00 p.m.
In addition to the 100 lap main event, part of the RoC Championship Series, racing will also be staged for Shangri-La II's ASA Late Model, Sportsman Modified, and Street Stock divisions as well as the INEX Legends. As always on the Race of Champions Tour, there will be no time trials, with all qualifying for the 100-lap feature through heats and consolation races.
An added incentive for fans attending on Sunday, August 22, is the carry-over of the unclaimed 50-50 jackpot from the first Race of Champions appearance on May 16. The 50-50 at the "Return of the ROC'n Concrete Rumble" will start with over one thousand dollars, $1,003 to be exact, and grow from there.
"We're delighted we were able to work with the Race of Champions management to find a rescheduled date that should meet everyone's needs," said Shangri-La II track manager Amy Stilson. "The earlier starting time will help the competitors and fans who travel long distances to support the Race of Champions Tour and are facing an early work day on Monday to get on the road and home at a reasonable hour," she added.
As a result of the added race on August 22, the ASA Member Track program originally scheduled for Saturday, August 21 will not be run. The feature events on Sunday, August 22, with the exception of the Race of Champions Modified Tour, will take the place of the canceled August 21 program.
