(Tioga Center, NY) It has been a see-saw battle with the elements the past few weeks, After just sliding in the race one week ago before the rains started, The Concrete Castle fell victim to unfavorable weather conditions once again. “Five rainouts in one year is a lot” said track and event manager, Amy Culver. “We lost opening day to rain, and then two of the last three weeks – we are hoping we have paid our dues, and we have a beautiful weekend for The Fall Brawl”. With Season Championship night raining out, the points ended as of the last event on September 7th. Gene Purvis had clinched the Four Cylinder Stock title on September 7th, his first at the ASA Member facility after amassing nine feature wins. Young rookie, Nick Morich finished second in the Four Cylinder Stock points and Jeremiah Clonch finished third.

The Pudgies Pizza Street Stock points ended as of August 24thafter the drivers agreed to end the points when the track opened up the rules packages for the remaining races of the year. 2012 champion, Jeff Goodwin defended his title, but now shares the 2013 championship with Chris Zacharias. Jason Duke, Sr. finished third in the Pudgies Pizza Street Stock points, Charlie Sharpsteen was fourth in the points and Billy Coyle completed the top five. There were six different winners in the twelve completed events. Tyler Rypkema claimed his first ever Sportsman title in just his second season of competition in the division, collecting five wins in the process. Rypkema claimed the top spot by just 37 points over Paul Johnson, who had his best season ever at Shangri-La II. Completing the top five in Sportsman points were Mikayla Rypkema, T.J.Zacharias and Matt Clemens.

Lap money is collected as an additional bonus to the drivers and race teams on top of the purse they will be racing for. This year, there will be lap money available for four divisions racing in The Fall Brawl. The Sportsman Modifieds, Late Models, Four Cylinder Stocks and Pudgies Pizza Street Stocks will be racing for the lap money being collected. Lora Kresge is coordinating the lap money collection, and is being assisted by Betty Sherwood. Lora has planned to keep a current listing of laps sponsored and the dollar amount and donor on the Race NY website. The Shangri-La II website will also provide periodic updates. Betty Sherwood will collect the lap money donations.  Lap sponsorships for the 60 lap Sportsman Modified feature and the 40 lap Latemodel feature will start at $ 25.00/lap. Lap sponsorships for the 50 lap Pudgies Pizza Street Stock feature and the 20 lap Four Cylinder Stock feature will start at $20.00/lap. Race teams must pre-register the car in order to be eligible for the lap money. Taking advantage of pre-registering the car will not only allow the driver to collect the lap money, but it will also save the team money as there is a discount available until September 20th on pre-entries. The track can also raise the purse based upon the number of cars pre-entered in a class. Teams who do not pre-enter may opt in to be eligible to participate in collecting lap money by paying an additional fee on the day of the event. Lap money will be spread throughout the field unless a particular position is specified by the donor. Donors will be recognized on the public address system throughout the event.
