Shangri-La II Sets Open House April 3rd & 10th for Registration and Licensing
While the engines won't fire until later in the month, racers and fans will get their first look at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway in 2010 on Saturday, April 3 and Saturday, April 10, as the Concrete Castle plays host to its first open house each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the same time, Shangri-La II's sister track, SkyView Drags, will conduct its pre-season registration on both days.
The primary purpose of Shangri-La II's open house is to provide race teams an opportunity to register their cars for the 2010 season and take care of the opening-day paperwork like licensing and medical data forms without the stress of a race later that same day. All areas of the facility will be open, so it will offer a chance for newcomers to look over the track and meet the staff, and for everyone to ask questions and offer comments and suggestions in an informal setting. Concession stands will be open."It helps everybody to get as much of the opening day rush out of the way as possible, and it should also provide a chance for the racers to get reacquainted with the track and its personnel," commented Shangri-La II track manager Amy Stilson, adding "With our first open practice just around the corner, things will get serious soon enough, so we hope all who attend will have a good time."
Admission to the grounds of Shangri-La II and Skyview on April 3 and 10 is free.
Shangri-La II Motor Speedway will hold open practice days April 18 and 25 leading up to the season-opening Concrete Duals on May 1, featuring all four divisions - tour-type modifieds, ASA late models, sportsman modifieds, and street stocks - in double feature races.
