Rain Claims Fifth Complete Program at Shangri-La II
This week, racing will resume at Shangri-La II Motorspeedway on Spalding Foundation Night. The annual Spalding Foundation Auction will raise more funds for the charity whose mission is to provide monetary support for drivers, crewmen and racing officials who have sustained injuries in a race related accident at a NASCAR, dirt or local licensed track in New York State and around the United States. The Spalding Foundation was founded in 1989.
The Kids Club will return with more exciting activities for the youngsters.

The show will see the ASA Latemodels running a 30 lap feature, the Sportsman and Street Stocks running 25 lap events.
Pit Gates open at 4:30 pm, Grandstand Gates open at 5:30 pm. Practice begins at 6:00 pm. Racing gets the green flag at 7:00 pm.
Grandstand Admission is just $ 10.00 ($ 8.00 with the last race's wristband discount) with youths under the age of 16 admitted free.

Shangri-La II Motorspeedway in Tioga Center, NY along with Grafix by Billy and Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park in Wyalusing , PA are proud to sponsor “Challenge The Champions” to benefit The Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers. The event will be held on Friday August 12, 2011 at the Seneca Grand Prix Speedway 2374 State Rte. 414 Watkins Glen, NY from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The track is located just 1 mile from Gate 2 at Watkins Glen International. The fundraiser for the Spalding Foundation will offer race fans the opportunity to race go-carts against local racing celebrities and quite possibly several NASCAR stars and their families as well with the proceeds going to a very worthy cause. Shangri-La II Motorspeedway’s Director of Public Relations, Al Robinson has been named as Grand Marshall for the evening. Robinson is a long time announcer at Watkins Glen, and is currently on the road to recovery from a stroke suffered in May of this year. “We can not thank the owner of Seneca Grand Prix Speedway, Jason Bonsignore enough for generously offering the use of his facility to us for the evening” said Spalding Foundation Director, Betty Sherwood. “The Spalding Foundation has worked extremely hard promoting safety this year at Shangri-La II” track manager, Amy Stilson said. “We were very happy to join this function when Betty Sherwood approached us with the idea”. This event has come together rather quickly, and is being held on the same weekend that the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup series are in action at the famous road course. There is a lot of interest from the national touring drivers as the word is spreading. Nationwide Series driver, Mike Wallace and his son Matt have already stated their intention to participate. Local drivers also committing include ARCA Series driver, Brent Cross, Shangri-La II Motorspeedway 2010 Rookie of the Year, Bryan Sherwood, Justin Shiner, Jesse Kent, Duane Manzer, Tom Eiklor, Eddie White, Marshall Balzer, Daryl Barrett, Steve Williams, Mike Williams, Nick Robinson with more local and celebrity drivers are indicating their participation daily.
Shangri-La II Motorspeedway and the American Speed Association welcome the Amsoil Great American Circle Track Tour to the Tioga Center, NY facility this Saturday night. " We are proud to welcome Circle Track Magazine senior Technical Editor, Bob Bolles and his wife Karen to high banked half mile. It is an honor to be one of the 25 tracks selected for their visit in the second year of their tour" said track manager Amy Stilson. Bolles and his wife are in the second year of a four year tour stopping at local race tracks to talk shop with the drivers and crews. They are talking with track owners, promoters and drivers to discuss issues important to racing and develop future feature stories for Circle Track Magazine. The tour will present a case of Amsoil Racing Lubricants to the winner of the ASA Latemodel feature as well as having tour souvenirs and giveaways for the fans.
