Building Rules

Notice: All model, engine, or equipment changes or modifications not governed by the following Shangri-La II Rules must be submitted for consideration of approval, not less than 30 days prior to the date of intended usage in competition. Equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.

1.0 Approved Models
Any North American built Rear Wheel Drive car from 1965 through 2008 with a minimum wheelbase of 106” (inches) is eligible for competition.
Wheelbase must remain stock for year, make and model of car, no alterations or interchanges of body and/or frame are allowed. Note: Aluminum aftermarket bodies are permitted, but must be stock appearing, in the Street Stock Class, with the exception of the Hood and Bumper Covers all Body Panels must be Steel. All bodies must be stock steel or stock appearing aluminum.

1.1 General Car Body Requirements

  1. Car body and overall appearance must be representative of car model.
  2. Body must retain stock dimensions, alteration of body lines will not be allowed.
  3. Stock dimension windshield pillars must be retained. Windshield pillars and windshield angle must remain stock.
  4. Anything that bolts in place may be removed.
  5. All body molding including door handles, must be removed.
  6. Doors must be welded or securely fastened front and back.
  7. Quarter panels and front fenders may be cut for tire clearance only. Front inner fenders may be removed.
  8. All cars must maintain a Street Stock, not a Late Model appearance.

1.1.1 Body Positioning and Mounting

  1. The body must remain parallel to the centerline of the tread width and must be mounted in Stock Factory Location in relation to the frame, the body may not be lowered on the frame.
  2. All body panels must connect in stock locations, without alteration.

1.1.2 Hood, Roof and Trunk Lid

  1. Fiberglass hoods are allowed, holes or scoops in hood are prohibited.
  2. Hoods must lie flat on fenders and must remain sealed to windshields at all times.
  3. Hoods must be held in place with hood pins. A minimum of four (4) in front and two (2) at the rear of the hood are mandatory.
  4. Trunk Lids must be held in place with a minimum of (2) hood pins.
  5. Roof height must be a minimum of 49” (inches).

1.1.3 Taillight Panel

  1. Tail-light panel must be closed and remain as manufactured. NO CUTTING ALLOWED

1.1.4 Ground Clearance
No part of the body, and/or chassis may extend past the lowest point of the bottom of the main frame, left or right. Frame must maintain a minimum ground clearance of 6.0” (inches). Ground clearance measurement is measured from the lowest point of the chassis and/or body, and to be taken with the fully-suited driver in the car and in normal sitting position. Measurements can be taken prior to, or following any given event. There is Zero (0) tolerance.

1.1.5 Vanes, Skirts Air Dams, Vents, Ducts and Noses

  1. No lower side skirts, body extensions or flares are permitted.
  2. No side or vent windows are permitted.
  3. Additional vanes, air dams, front spoilers, flared skirts or other added devices or sheet metal to divert or direct airflow are not allowed.

1.1.6 Windshield & Rear Window

  1. All Glass must be removed, a full 1/8" (inch) Lexan or Plexiglas type windshields must be used. Windshield must have a minimum of two (2) internal aluminum or steel braces approximately 4" (inches) to 6” (inches) apart and roughly centered in windshield.
  2. Full rear windows are recommended. If you have one it must be 1/8" (inch) Lexan or Plexiglas type, mounted securely, with at least two (2) internal aluminum or steel braces to prevent any collapsing.

1.1.7 Bumpers & NERF Bars

  1. Front and rear bumper covers must remain stock and be mounted in the stock position. NO CUTTING ALLOWED.
  2. Bumpers must be stock appearing for make and model.
  3. Aftermarket stock appearing front and rear bumper covers and front nose may be used..
  4. Outside bumper reinforcement/bracing is prohibited. No NERF bars permitted outside the body, including Doors and Bumpers.
  5. A maximum of 2 support bars may be used behind the nose and may be made of either 1” (inch) Round or 2” (inch) Square Hollow Tubing not exceeding .095” (inch) wall thickness.
  6. All cars must provide hooks and/or alternate method for towing, in both the front and rear and may be located under hood and/or trunk.
  7. Lexan type rub rails are allowed for purpose of protecting lettering.

1.1.8 Spoilers

  1. No front spoilers are permitted.
  2. Non- adjustable Rear Spoiler shall not exceed 5" (inches) in height & 54" in length.
  3. Factory Spoilers are permitted on the rear.
  4. The spoiler shall not exceed the width of the deck lid and must be attached to and centered on the rear of the deck lid.
  5. Homemade spoilers must maintain a 40° to 50° (degree) spoiler angle.
  6. Rudders, side enclosures or bracing, lips, bends or forward mounting brackets are strictly prohibited.
  7. No decals will be allowed on the spoiler at anytime.


2.0 Floor/Fire Walls

  1. Interior of car must be completely enclosed in respect to engine compartment, track surface, wheel wells, and rear (fuel cell) compartments. No air ducts through the firewall and/or floor are permitted.
  2. Any fabricated sheet metal must be minimum 20 gauge steel.
  3. Anything that bolts in place may be removed, Interior must be stripped.
  4. Firewalls must remain in stock location and be a minimum 20 gauge steel (aftermarket firewalls are acceptable).
  5. Driver Seat location must remain in stock position.
  6. Floors must remain stock front to rear of driver/seat.
  7. Trunk floors may be cut to accommodate the fuel cell.
  8. Seat may be 76” (inches) from center of spindle to the bottom rear of the seat.

2.1 Dashboard

  1. A full width dashboard is required. Top area of windshield to vertical plane of dash must be enclosed. Gauges must be mounted on a vertical panel.


3.0 Car Weights

  1. Maximum left side weight percentage for ALL cars will be 56% before, during and after event with NO Allowances
  2. Minimum overall weight 3150 lbs. before and after race. of any form.
         • Maximum of two(2) adjustable devices per car. Either two (2) Jacking bolds (rear only) or 2 Spring Cups (Front or Rear)


4.0 Engine Requirements

  1. Only stock standard production V8 engines allowed from manufactures GM, Ford and Chrysler (cast iron only) are allowed for competition.
  2. Stock, unaltered engine must not exceed a maximum compression ratio of 10.0:1 and match the make and model of the car used.
  3. Engine must be available within the chassis as a factory item, including all engine accessories except air filters, pulleys, valve covers and oil pan.
  4. No cross breeding or interchanging of engine parts permitted.
  5. All components must have been available on two barrel, small block engines from the factory. No special order components.

Note: The track reserves the right to inspect any engine for adherence to these rules at anytime, engines may be whistled and P&G tested at random.

4.1 Engine Displacement

  1. All engines must retain stock Internal and External measurements with the only exceptions being items specified in this rulebook.
  2. General Motors: 350 c.i. (cubic inch) displacement. OEM block plus a maximum of .060” (inch) overbore per cylinder. The Chevrolet Bowtie Block is not eligible for competition.
  3. Ford Motor Company: 351 c.i. (cubic inch) displacement. OEM block plus a maximum of .060” (inch) overbore per cylinder.
  4. Chrysler Corporation: 360 c.i. (cubic inch) displacement. OEM block plus a maximum of .030” (inch) overbore per cylinder. Chrysler 355 c.i. (cubic inch) displacement engines are not eligible for competition.

4.2 Cylinder Heads

  1. Stock standard production cast iron heads allowed, stock standart GM Vortec heads allowed Part # 906 and 062. No angled plugs. No after market Vortec.
  2. Aftermarket heads allowed, World Products part # 42660 or 42670. Heads must have stock internal and external measurements.
  3. Rocker studs may be 3/8” (inch) or 7/16” (inch) only.
  4. No porting, polishing, sand blasting, glass beading, hand grinding, painting or adding material to head will be permitted.
  5. No acid porting or etching of any kind, violation of this rule will result in disqualification and loss of all winnings for that event. The team will also be stripped of all season points and may be banned from competition at the discretion of Shangri-La II Speedway Management.
  6. No modifications allowed to the combustion chamber including but not limited to cutting, blending or polishing.
  7. Any attempt to alter, change, or eliminate part numbers will result in that part’s ineligibility.

4.3 Valves, Springs

  1. Steel valves only with stock valve stem diameter.
  2. Stock diameter valve spring size only.
  3. Steel valve spring retainers only.
  4. Maximum 3 angle valve job with valve centerline and guide angle in OEM stock location in relation to the head.
  5. Maximum valve size is 2.020” (inches) Intake, 1.600” (inches) Exhaust

4.4 Rocker Arms

  1. Any stud mounted roller rocker or OEM rocker arms will be permitted.
  2. 1.5 only ratio permitted.
  3. No shaft rockers allowed exception for Chrysler Corp. Manufactured engines.
  4. After market rocker arms are permitted.
  5. Studgirdles are allowed

4.5 Pistons, Rods, Cams, Timing Chain, Crankshaft

  1. Steel connecting rods required, no titanium, aluminum or stainless steel connecting rods allowed.
  2. Only Stock or Sportsman type connecting rods are approved for competition.
  3. 5.7” (inch) or 6.0” (inch) length rod permitted, must maintain stock stroke.
  4. Stock crank with stock stroke 3.480 +/- .010 must be retained. Crank casting number must not be removed.
  5. Only stock production type crankshafts may be used, standard steel or cast iron.
  6. Aftermarket crankshafts must be identical to stock OEM in appearance, construction, and weight and journal size. Counterweights must be the same shape and size of a stock OEM crankshaft.
  7. Counterweights may not be altered in any way. Normal balancing only.
  8. Minimum crankshaft weight is 48 lbs (pounds).
  9. Flat Top or Dish pistons only. Valve relief may be cut into piston. Pistons may not exceed engine compression rule. No dome, pop-up pistons are allowed.
  10. All pistons must utilize the mandatory three (3) rings only.
  11. No part of the piston may protrude above the deck of the block.
  12. Hydraulic or Solid camshafts may be used. Stock diameter hydraulic lifters only. Maximum lift is 0.450” (inch) intake, 0.500” (inch) exhaust, checked at the valve.
  13. No roller cams or lifters of any type, no mushroom tappets.
  14. Any timing chain may be used. Degree bushings and offset crank gear keys may be used. Gear drive or belt drive types not allowed.

4.6 Oil Pan & Oiling System

  1. Oil system may be of Wet Sump type only.
  2. Steel Oil Pan only, stock oil pans are allowed. No aluminum oil pans permitted.
  3. Pans may be aftermarket 7 to 8 quarts, with a filter. Larger rear sump area only, no side kick out pans or Windage trays on motor will not be permitted.
  4. Inspection plug is required on the left side of the oil pan. The inspection hole must be a minimum of 1” inch in diameter. It must be 9” inches from the rear block face to the center line of the inspection hole or 4 inches from the front block face to the center line of the inspection hole and 1 1/2” inches from the oil pan rail. There may not be any obstruction of view from the inspection hole to view crank and rods.
  5. No oil coolers allowed.

4.7 Intake Manifolds

  1. The following aftermarket intake manifolds are approved for use:
    Chevrolet Edelbrock Performer (Part # 2116)
    Chevrolet Edelbrock Performer (Part # 2101)
    Ford Edelbrock Performer (Part # 3781)
    Chrysler Edelbrock Performer (Part # 2176)
  2. The Intake must remain as produced by the original manufacturer and must be stamped with the part number. The manifold may not be modified, painted, polished, or coated.
  3. No acid porting or etching of any kind, violation of this rule will result in disqualification and loss of all winnings for that event. The team will also be stripped of all season points and may be banned from competition at the discretion of Shangri-La II Speedway Management.

4.8 Carburetors

  1. Carburetor is limited to one (1) unaltered stock 4412 Holley 500 cfm two (2) barrel, Must pass gauge inspection. HP Carburetor is not allowed.
    Venturi Bore: 1.373” – 1.377”
    Booster Outside Diameter: .620” (+ or -) .10”
    Booster Inside Diameter: .390” (+ or -) .003”
    Throttle Bore: 1.6855” – 1.6856”
    Combined Throttle Shaft and Plate: .1868” - .2008”
  2. Choke may be removed and all holes must be permanently sealed. Choke horn may not be removed or altered.
  3. Boosters may not be altered in any manner including size, shape or height.
  4. Venturi area must not be altered in any manner.
  5. Stock butterflies must not be thinned or tapered. Idle holes may be drilled in butterflies. Screw ends may be cut even with shafts, but screw heads must remain standard.
  6. Throttle shafts must remain standard and must not be cut or thinned in any manner. Any attempt to pull outside air other than through the venture is not permitted.
  7. No alterations will be allowed including but not limited to polishing, grinding, or drilling holes in the body of the carburetor.
  8. Metering block must maintain stock configuration. After market metering blocks are not allowed. Resizing of bleeds are not permitted.
  9. Carburetor must be mounted in stock configuration.
  10. Carburetor must pass all Shangri-La II Speedway gauge checks to be eligible for competition.

4.9 Carburetor Throttle Linkage

  1. All linkage must be mechanical type. No cable type. Two springs MANDATORY.
  2. A toe strap is MANDATORY.

4.10 Carburetor Spacer and Gaskets

  1. No alterations allowed to carburetor spacer.
  2. Only a 1 piece carburetor spacer, maximum 1” inch in thickness may be installed between the intake manifold and the carburetor. No spacer allowed if 1.0” (inch) is built into intake.  Updated 3/6/12
  3. The top (carb side) and the bottom (manifold side) must be parallel, No wedge shape allowed. Port Holes must be vertical top to bottom (90 Degrees). No beveling, tapering, grooving, flaring, or radiusing of port holes. Spacer may not be stepped or undercut.
  4. Port Holes must be same size and shape at the top and bottom and must pass through the entire spacer adapter with no additional holes or channels that will allow air to enter the engine.
  5. Only 2 paper gaskets (1 per side) with a maximum thickness of 0.075 inch will be permitted. Gaskets may be altered to match carburetor base openings.

4.11 Carburetor Jets

  1. Carburetor jets must be the same type as supplied by the carburetor manufacturer.

4.12 Carburetor Air Filter

  1. Air filter element must be a minimum of 12” (inches) and a maximum of 17” (inches) in diameter.
  2. Top and bottom of air filter housing must be same size as air filter and made of steel.
  3. Air must be filtered through the element.
  4. No shield around air cleaner will be permitted.
  5. Base of air cleaner cannot extend higher than carburetor choke horn.
  6. Air Filter Element must be a minimum of 1 1/2” (inches) and a maximum of 4” (inches) in height.
  7. Only K&N type filter elements are allowed.
  8. The air filter housing may be offset for clearance of the distributor only. No tubes, funnels or any other device which may control the flow of air is permitted inside the air filter housing or between the air filter housing and the carburetor.
  9. Air cleaners cannot be removed during practice or competition.

4.13 Air Intake

  1. No cowl air induction is permitted. Absolutely no air ducts or baffles permitted on or leading to the air cleaner or element.


5.0 Ignition

  1. All ignition systems must be acceptable to Shangri-La II Tech Officials.
  2. HEI distributor only, must have stock appearing 4 pin terminal type modules only.
  3. No MSD modules or ignition boxes are permitted.
  4. Traction Control of any type is strictly prohibited.
  5. The distributor must mount in the stock location and maintain the same firing order as a factory produced engine for the make and model car being used.
  6. No adjustments allowed inside distributor cap, no adjustable timing controls of any type permitted.

5.1 Spark Plugs

  1. Any make or brand of spark plugs may be used.

5.2 Alternator

  1. The alternator system when used must be working within specifications.

5.3 Starter

  1. The self starter must be in working order. Gear reduction starters are acceptable. All cars must be capable of starting under their own power.
  2. After a race is underway, cars may be started by hand pushing in the pit area only, but under no circumstances is any car permitted to be pushed onto the race track from pit area.

5.4 Battery

  1. Only one 12-volt battery allowed.
  2. Battery may be mounted in a spill proof container on right side floor of car inside frame rail in a steel box made of no less than 20 gauge steel, completely sealed from the driver and bolted down.

5.5 Electrical Switch Locations

  1. All electrical switches must be located within the driver’s reach. A labeled on/off master switch must be located within reach of the driver’s side window opening and effectively kill power from the battery to the car’s ignition system.

5.6 Accessories

  1. Cars will not be permitted to carry on board computers, micro-controllers, processors, recording devices, electronic memory chips or digital readout gauges during competition. Radios must be of two-way voice communication type only, independent of the car’s electrical system.

Fuel System

6.0 Fuel Cell

  1. Maximum size is 22 gallons (U.S.), rectangular or square in shape only.
  2. Fuel cell must have a minimum ground clearance height of 9.0” (inches) from the track.
  3. Must have flapper/ball valve assembly in cell to prevent spillage when upset.
  4. Must be enclosed in a 20 gauge steel metal canister and centered between the frame rails.
  5. Must have a check valve in vent tube to prevent spillage. Vent line must not be excessive in length.
  6. Fuel cell vent must be located at the left rear corner of the trunk.

6.1 Fuel Pumps

  1. Stock Mechanical OEM type fuel pumps only, no electric fuel pumps allowed. Only one fuel line between fuel cell and fuel pump is allowed.

Cooling System

7.0 Radiator

  1. Must have stock appearing radiator contained under the hood of the car.
  2. Radiator must be stock type made of copper, brass or aluminum only with a minimum of a 1 gallon overflow tank. Overflow must blow on right lower quarter of windshield.
  3. Stock steel bladed fans or electric fans are allowed.
  4. Approved loop around radiator and behind grille is permitted.

7.1 Liquids

  1. Absolutely no anti-freeze liquid allowed, water only.
  2. Products such as Liquid Cool and Water Wetter are allowed.

7.2 Water Pump

  1. Must have stock OEM or stock replacement type water pump only.
  2. Double clamps recommended on all hoses.

Drive Train and Running Gear

8.0 Drive Train

  1. No carbon fiber or titanium products allowed without Speedway approval.

8.1 Engine Location

  1. Engine/drive line must be located in stock position.
  2. Engine crankshaft center height must be a minimum of 15" measured from the centerline of the crankshaft/harmonic balancer to the ground.
  3. Steel or Rubber motor mounts are permitted
  4. Rubber mounted engines must be chained down for safety.
  5. Engine must be mounted in a normal upright position, whereby the cylinder vertical centerline of a 90degree engine shall be a 45-degree angle to a vertical line projected from the ground plane.

8.2 Vibration Damper

  1. Must be OEM steel or cast iron only.
  2. Fluidamper is allowed.

8.3 Flex plate

  1. Must have stock weight and diameter steel flexplate. No carbon fiber or titanium drive train parts or fasteners permitted. Flex plate must be bolted to and turn positive with the crankshaft.

8.4 Transmission

Automatic Transmission

  1. OEM Automatic Transmissions, in stock unaltered condition only. All transmission must be manufactured by General Motors, Ford Motor Company, or Chrysler Corporation only.
  2. General Motors Turbo 350 only. Power glides allowed.
  3. High performance, aftermarket or special transmissions are not allowed.
  4. Modifying of transmissions will not be allowed. All gears must be in working order. All forward and reverse gears must be in working order from driver’s seat in car.
  5. All cars must have stock unaltered V-8 torque converter with OEM dimensions and completely functional. Vega or similar small torque converters not allowed (anything less than 11” inches).
  6. Must have drain plug in torque converter.
  7. Transmission coolers are allowed. Steel line double clamped, line cannot be routed through driver’s compartment.
  8. Solid transmission mounts are permitted.
  9. All transmissions must be approved by Shangri-La II Officials.
  10. Final gear ratio : nothing over a 519

Standard Transmission

  1. Stock Standard 3 Speed Transmissions are allowed.
  2. Gears must be Stock. All forward & reverse gears must be working.
  3. Must be steel housing, no Muncies.
  4. Must have steel bell housing, no aluminum.
  5. Stock single disc clutch. 10.5 diameter minimum.
  6. Stock type Fly-Wheel only. No light weight parts permitted.
  7. Clutch pressure plate & fly-wheel 35lb minimum.
  8. Shangri-La II Tech reserves the right to disallow clutch setup accordingly. Questionable clutch assembly not meeting minimum criteria will not be allowed to compete.
  9. Final gear ratio : nothing over a 519

8.5 Drive Shaft

  1. Drive shafts and universals must be similar in design to standard production type. Only a 1 piece steel drive shaft permitted.
  2. It is mandatory that two (2) 360 degree solid steel brackets, no less than 1.5” (inches) wide and 1/4 inch thick, be placed around the drive shaft located 6.0” (inches) from the front and 6.0” (inches) from the rear and fasten to the cross member or chassis of the car.
  3. All drive shafts must be painted white.

8.6 Rear Axle

  1. Rear end must be stock for make and model of car. Rear mounting must be stock as from factory.
  2. Lower Trailing arms must be stock length for make, model and year of car. No Monoballs allowed.
  3. No ratchet or aftermarket carriers.
  4. 10 and 12 bolt rear ends are permitted,
  5. Ford 9" (inch) rear ends will be permitted, mounts must be welded and not adjustable, no offset bushings. Mounts on chassis must remain stock.
  6. Differentials may be locked, Detroit locker or limited slip; not permitted. No Gleasons. No aluminum lockers.
  7. No floating rear ends permitted.
  8. No offset, cambered or quick change rear ends permitted.
  9. Final gear ratio : nothing over a 519

8.7 Wheels

  1. Only 14” (inch) or 15” (inch) diameter 5 lug aftermarket heavy duty one piece steel wheels with an 8” (inch) rim width and a reinforced center are permitted.
  2. All wheels must be the same diameter.
  3. Solid heavy-duty steel lug bolts and 1” (inch) x 1/2” (inch) diameter nuts must be used, hollow studs are not allowed.
  4. No welding, modifications or repair of steel wills will be permitted.
  5. Wheel Spacers and/or shims are not permitted.
  6. Bleeder or pop-off type valves are not permitted.

8.8 Headers, Mufflers and Exhaust

  1. OEM stock, cast iron manifolds are permitted, aftermarket exhaust manifolds are permitted.
  2. Any steel header with 1 5/8” (inch) primary tube and 3” (inch) collector is allowed. No step headers, no 180 degree or stainless steel headers allowed.
  3. Spacers between head and headers will not be permitted. .
  4. Maximum pipe size 3” inches. No 2-into-1 systems, No “X”, “H” or "Tri-Y" pipes.
  5. No thermal wrap will be permitted on headers, collectors or exit pipes.
  6. Mufflers are mandatory, no modifications of any type allowed to the muffler.  Must be a minimum of 12" in length.
  7. Mufflers must be removable for inspection.
  8. Cars not adhering to this rule or excessively loud cars may not be allowed to compete.
  9. Exhaust must extend behind driver and exit under car in front of rear tires to the outside edges of the doors.
  10. Maximum allowable noise decibel to be 95db (decibels).

Chassis Construction

9.0 Wheelbase, Tread Width, Frame Height

  1. Minimum wheelbase is 106" (inches) on either side. The left side wheelbase must be +/- 1" (inch) of right side. No Mustangs or Short Wheelbase cars.
  2. Maximum tread width front and rear is 76" (inches) measurements will be taken from outside of tires (sidewall to sidewall) at spindle height, no tolerance allowed.
  3. Absolute minimum height of frame will be 6” (inches) from ground before, during, & after each race event with fully suited driver in the car in the normal sitting position. There is Zero (0) tolerance on frame height. Frame height measurements will be taken at the frame rail behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel.

9.1 Center Section Components

  1. Main frame rail structure of chassis, defined as the primary structure to which roll cage members, major suspension components, engine, etc., must remain stock in every way.
  2. Frame must stock for make, model and year of car.
  3. “X” structure may be added inside frame rails for Driver protection.
  4. No shortening or altering of frame will be permitted.
  5. All unibody cars must have a minimum 2” (inch) x 3” (inch) sub-frame. The sub-frame must be no less than .120 wall thickness.
  6. Unibody cars must connect front and rear subframes with mild steel box tubing with a minimum of size of 2.0” (inches) x 3.0” (inches) x .083” (inches) steel box.

9.2 Front and Rear Sections

  1. Front Clip must remain stock for make, model and year of car.
  2. Rear Clip beginning at the centerline of rear end to bumper mounts may be replaced with mild steel box tubing with a minimum of size of 2.0” (inches) x 3.0” (inches) x .083” (inches) steel box.
  3. Fabricated rear frame sections centerline must be located within 1/2” (inch) of the centerline of the main frame section.

9.3 Right Side Door Bar

  1. A minimum of two (2) horizontal bars, two (2) vertical bars are mandatory on right side.

9.4 Suspension Components

  1. Unless indicated otherwise in this rule book all suspension components must remain stock for make, model and year of car.
  2. Strut Type cars are allowed. No Coilover or Adjustable Struts permitted and no modifications to Strut Tower are permitted.
  3. No uni-balls or heim ends.

9.5 Brakes

  1. Stock type hydraulically activated brakes in a good operating condition are required on all four wheels at all times.
  2. Four wheel disc brakes are permitted.
  3. Stock type single piston steel caliper (must be OEM type, no racing replacement i.e. Howe or Wilwood.)
  4. Dual Master Cylinder permitted, no remote adjustments allowed from anywhere.
  5. Two-piece steel rotors may be used, no aluminum hats or hubs.
  6. Only magnetic cast iron or cast steel round circular rotors permitted. Rotors must be vein type with a minimum thickness of 1” (inch), and can not be drilled, slotted or grooved type. Only factory dust clean out allowed.
  7. No drilling or lightening of rotors or drums.
  8. Brake rotors must be bolted to the hubs. Floating brake rotors are not permitted.
  9. Absolutely no Accu-brake type Systems will be allowed.
  10. All rotors and brake components subject to Track Officials approval.

9.6 Springs

  1. One spring allowed per wheel and must be stock in appearance.
  2. Racing springs may be used, Springs front and rear must match body.
  3. Springs must mount in original spring mounting bracket position and location.
  4. Spring rubbers are permitted in coil springs, steel spacers of a one piece design are permitted.
  5. Spring Rubbers must be removed manually. No removal devices may extend out side the body of the car or be accessible in the driver’s compartment.

9.7 Shocks

  1. A maximum of 1 shock absorber per wheel is permitted.
  2. No adjustable, aluminum, coil over, shocks that can accept a coil over or air shocks will be permitted.
  3. Shock may be mounted outside of spring, but if mounted on the outside, no adjustable mount will be permitted.
  4. Rear shock must be mounted in stock location, but may be steel rod end style.
  5. No re-valvable shocks.

9.8 Sway Bars

  1. Front sway bar must be standard factory production type, standard size, in factory location. Sway bar link must be standard OEM type.
  2. Rear sway bar is not allowed.

9.9 A-Frames

  1. Independent front suspension is mandatory with articulating upper and lower control arms.
  2. Left and right upper control arms may be switched but must remain stock.
  3. Reinforcement of front upper control arms is allowed.
  4. All suspension components must be in original position. No offset bushings.
  5. The following Upper Control Arms may be substituted:
    • Offset Upper Control Arm - Right - UBM14-0809-5R
    • Offset Upper Control Arm - Left - UBM14-0829-6L
    • Offset Upper Control Arm - Right - UBM19-0809-5R (Accepts Screw-in ball joint)
    • Offset Upper Control Arm - Left - UBM19-0829-6L (Accepts Screw-in ball joint)
  6. Lower Control Arms must remain stock for Make, Model and year of car.
  7. Stock rubber bushings may be replaced with aftermarket urethane or metal bushings.
  8. Ball joint must be of stock type, non-adjustable and maintain stock dimensions.
    Any A-Frame not listed must be approved by Shangri-La II Tech Officials.


9.10 Rear Trailing Arms

  1. No uniballs or heim joints ends.
  2. Bottom trailing arms must be stock length for make, model and year of car and must be mounted in stock location.
  3. Top trailing arms may be altered and/or adjustable.
  4. Stock rubber bushings may be replaced with aftermarket urethane or metal bushings.
  5. No adjustable bushings.
  6. All suspension mounting points must be unaltered.

9.11 Steering & Spindles

  1. Steering Box and Steering arms must remain stock for make, model and year of car.
  2. Steering Column must remain in stock position. Stock column may be removed and a steel shaft may be used. Shaft must be supported by heim joints and be securely installed.
  3. Quick release steering wheel hubs, made of steel, must be used. Hub must be welded to the steering shaft.
  4. Aftermarket racing steering wheel must be used. Steering wheel center must be padded.
  5. Aftermarket power steering pumps may be used but must be mounted in stock location.
  6. No Steering Quickners will be allowed.
  7. Spindles must remain stock for make, model and year of car.
