Paules, Lamoreaux and Zacharias Complete Weekend
Sweep at Shangri-La II

(Tioga Center, NY) Earl Paules (Mighty Modifieds, Jim Lamoreaux (ASA Late Models) and Rick Zacharias (Sportsman Modifieds) completed the weekend sweep at The New Shangri-La II Motor Speedway with wins on Sunday, July 5th. Dan Cascioli picked up the win in the Street Stock division.

The Mighty Modified division had Twin 30 lap feature events with the winner being the driver who had the best average finish in both races. Earl Paules and John Markovic lead the field to the green flag in the first 30 lap race. Ted Christopher started in the 5th position and it didn't take him long to get on the rear of Paules as he was up to 2nd by lap 2. The caution came out on lap 9 for a spin by Mike Nickels and again on lap 10 for Jimmy Zacharias. When the green went back out Paules and Christopher continued to make it an exciting race for the top spot. On lap 15, Christopher passed Paules off turn 2 to take the lead. Christopher would lead the remainder of the first 30 lap event to score the victory. In the second 30 lap race for the Mighty Modified division, Danielle Bucheck and Chris Zacharias lead the field to the green flag. John Markovic made his presents know in the race as he jumped to the lead on the back straight with Rusty Smith following behind him. On lap 6, Earl Paules passed Markovic heading in turn 1 and Ted Christopher followed. Paules would hold off Christopher leading the remainder of the event to score the win in race two. Earl Paules had the best average finish and was declared the winner of the Mighty Modified events. Ted Christopher and Rusty Smith won the heat races.

The ASA Late Models had Twin 20 lap feature events with the winner having the best average finish in both races. Jim Lamoreaux was able to sweep the weekend as he won the opening day event on Saturday and both Twin 20 races on Sunday. Ben Reynolds finished 2nd and Scott Nurmi rounded out the top 3.

Rick Zacharias won the Twin 30 lap feature events for Sportsman Modifieds after Earl Paules failed post race tech inspection. Charlie Sharpsteen finished 2nd ahead of John Markovic, Jimmy Zacharias and T.J. Zacharias.

Dan Cascioli won the Twin 15 events held for Street Stock division. Cascioli won the first 15 lap feature event and finished 3rd in the second 15 lap feature event giving him the best average finish on the afternoon. AJay Potrzebowski, Derrick Tarbox, Chad McDonald and Terry Potrzebowski completed the top 5.

This Saturday, July 11th, Shangri-La II will hold Driver Appreciation Night that will include a Special Driver Memorial to Benefit the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers. The Mighty Modifieds (50 laps), ASA Late Models (50 laps), Sportsman Modifieds (40 laps) and Street Stocks (30 laps) will all be in action.
